Remote Explorer ignores uppercase / lowercase in Folders and Files

Hi!

I'm creating a new folder (or file) in VS2019 (f.e. 'test') and use the Remote Explorer to upload it to the remote server.
Then I'm changing the name of the folder (or file) and use capital letters in it (f.e. rename to 'Test').

Problem:
Remote Explorer does not recognise any change and therefore will not upload the new folder/file structure to the remote server.

Luckily this doesn't happen that often, but now that I've spent a few minutes troubleshooting why I can't remotely include a file that works perfectly in local environment, I thought I'd report it ;-)

awsupporter Thank you for the feedback.

You're correct, that Remote Explorer is not tracking changes like moving or renaming. It works as an Explorer and a simple download/upload tool - and it shows the actual local files and remote files only.

I'm aware that Remote Explorer (RE) is not "tracking" changes. But just as suggestion: If RE would recognise, that "test" != "Test" everything would be ok. RE would delete the (no longer existing) folder "test" and would upload the (new) folder "Test".

awsupporter I see! Thank you, yes, it assumes the Windows file system and ignores casing, this should be fixed.

I'll take a look on that.

I just tested it.

Created a directory called "test" with a file in it. => upload
==> Remote Folder and File are created
Renamed the local directory to "Test" => Refresh
==> Remote Explorer shows "Test" als new to upload (but not "test" to delete)
I then "upload" the "Test" folder
==> RE is uploading folder and File.
==> If I click "Refresh" again, the folder is still showing as new.

Looking on the ftp server, the new folder "Test" was created including the file, but the old folder "test" is still there also.
