Too many errors when running under CakePHP framework

Yeah, that would be great. I've been using DevSensePHP for ₈ years now, but an update to either VS2019 or the extension has made VS start showing all the errors and warnings - nearly 6000 in total, and a good chunk of these not-really-errors are from the framework.

Takes nearly a minute to start up VS, and It's making my machine virtually unusable.

Are we talking about Visual Studio Code? Here we have a configuration to mute certain errors in certain folders https://docs.devsense.com/en/vscode/problems#configuration

Errors in Visual Studio should not slow it down, but we don't have a configuration in there yet.

@JordanMele1 how is the suppression or hint look like? something like

JakubMisek I've traditionally been using VS2019, but wanted to try Visual Studio Code as it's a bit easier to navigate round. With that many errors, both slow down, particularly load time.

I tried suppressing the errors, but the error became useless as you have to suppress so much, it misses any real errors.

@JakubMisek Yeah, something like that. Where type hinting $this is effectively saying "usage of $this afterwards is deliberate".

Slow response here was on account of no notification having been sent (beyond in the forum itself). Email notifications have been enabled, so hopefully not a problem going forward.

Phalcon uses the same construction.

Thanks for the suggestions! The next update will respect the PHPDoc or whether $this was checked with instanceof

This problem is still unresolved. I am editing CakePHP framework .ctp files and still showing error.

Yes, $this in a global code is reported as a problem. We'll fix it for CakePHP view files (ctp) as well as blade templates, where it is actually correct.
