@JakubMisek Yes, my VSCode is under Windows, and I use the SSH plugin to connect to my VM under Ubuntu where is the code and the PHP binary.

I don't use WSL for this setup.

Jean-FrancoisHIVERT Thank you for reminding me; we have tried to replicate the issue several times, but no success so far. It will be the next thing on the list - we've been haunted by this bug for years.

If needed we can have a zoom meeting, I can reproduce and I reload often the VSCode to clean the cache.

We have tried several configurations, but so far, we cannot reproduce the issue.

Note that our VSCode installed vscode-server after first opening the remote connection (SSH on Ubuntu), which is essential for VSCode to work properly (but I guess you have it as well).

Here is the simple test;

Update (reproducible):

Cause:
"php.workspace.includePath" setting pointing inside the workspace folder itself, in combination with RemoteSSH;

Symptoms:
Our language server (LS) does not expect that, and here is the list of known issues:

LS indexes such a folder twice (once as a part of workspace, and then as a part of includePath setting)
all the PHP symbols are seamlessly declared twice, which causes unnecessary performance degradation
all the **.exclude settings don't apply to the includePath setting
file system changes are not reflected there, which causes ghosts in the code completion and code analysis

I'll mark it as solved, but we will also improve the "php.workspace.includePath" behavior in cases like this.
