PHP 5.4 Web Platform Installer

Whenever I try to debug a PHP 5.4 project I've beeen getting a message saying that the addin is going to install xdebug and php 5.4. However, the script (DEVSENSE.PHP.WebPISetup) gets stuck trying to install the C++ 2008 Redistributable package (which I already have installed). It looks like this is because the link the script is trying to download from is dead. You can see the dead link below.

"EULA: 'Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package', which is owned by 'Microsoft Corporation', will be downloaded from 'http://download.microsoft.com/download/1/1/1/1116b75a-9ec3-481a-a3c8-1777b5381140/vcredist_x86.exe'."

Is there any known workaround for around this issue?

As a workaround, for now, I'd recommend changing the PHP version to something higher (in the Project Properties)

It seems Microsoft Web Platform Installer is missing some packages now. I've asked if they are going to fix that (https://forums.iis.net/p/1253060/2165871.aspx?p=True&t=637578706641538718 ). If not, we will provide our installer in the next version.

Anyway if you've installed it yourself it should work. Web Platform Installer checks the register in order to find out if VS++ 2008 Redistributable is installed. If you've installed it previously you can take a look into these locations, just to check if it's really there:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall{FF66E9F6-83E7-3A3E-AF14-8DE9A809A6A4}

It does indeed appear that those keys are missing. I've found several other downloads of different versions of the 2008 x84 redistributable, but none of them have left a registry key with that guid. Is there a specific download/version you would recommend?

Hello,

You're right. Microsoft has removed the previous versions of VC++ 2008 Redistributable Package and the ones that are available now have different GUID, so WebPI will think you do not have it installed.

We will work around this in the next versions, but meantime you can try this "ugly" hack:

Add this key to registry Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall{FF66E9F6-83E7-3A3E-AF14-8DE9A809A6A4}
Let WebPI install PHP 5.4.
remove the key

Everything will work now.

The next release will have PHP 5.4 provided by us, so dependencies should correctly download.

@JakubMisek this shouldn't be closed. The issue still persists after 2 months!! The Error log from the Web Platform installer still points to a file that does not exist!! Unbelievable that you would treat a product that is being used by thousands in such a manner. Please fix this asap

Thank you for pointing this out. I can confirm VSRedist9 dependency is failing to install again. We've fixed it for the next release.

You can workaround by installing the VCRedist9 directly from https://download.microsoft.com/download/5/D/8/5D8C65CB-C849-4025-8E95-C3966CAFD8AE/vcredist_x86.exe Then PHP 5.4 should install correctly.
