Permission Denied in Remote Explorer

After the redesign of the Publish functionality, I am getting a Permission Denied error when trying to publish changes from Visual Studio 2019 into a local development server. This is using the previous Publish profile that had been working without issue prior to Remote Explorer. When I click Upload Changes and confirm Upload x files? It starts to gather the list of files, then shows "Permission denied; Permission denied." and stops.

Also, it appears to be wanting to upload all of the files in the project, rather than only those that have changed since I last published. That's not a big deal if it's a one-time thing, but I would rather not overwrite 1100+ files every time for no reason.

medinaline Uninstalled PHP Tools, installed 1.55.14068, and disabled automatic upgrades. Not ideal, but I'm functional again. Hopefully, I'll get some feedback here eventually.

Here's some more info. This publish profile is for a Ubuntu 20.04 server VM accessed via local 192.168... IP via SFTP. I didn't have a key pair generated for this server and am able to publish without issue in 1.55.14068. It's looking like the private key and passphrase may now be required, though I couldn't get it working after generating a key pair and passphrase this morning. Still got the Permission Denied; Permission Denied.

The files listed in the "Pending changes" tree will be uploaded. You can exclude the files from being uploaded as described at https://docs.devsense.com/en/vs/project/remote-explorer#include-exclude .

Have you successfully validated the connection credentials? When you click "manage profile", assuming the connection is SFTP? you can click "Validate Connection" button at the bottom of the window:

JakubMisek Hi Jakub, thanks for your reply.

After rolling back to the older version, I was able to publish and a much more realistic 180 changed files were published, rather than the 1100+ files that were listed in the Remote Explorer in the newer version.

I was able to Validate Connection successfully in the profile that was giving the Permission Denied error in the newer version. It is SFTP and is the same profile that is working in the older version, erroring in the new version.

What I was able to pin down by looking through the Publish log entries after rolling back to the old version is that when it came across a problem, it just noted it in the log and moved on. Remote Explorer seems to stop. There are apparently some files that actually do have permission problems, not being allowed to be overwritten.

Thank you @medinaline - we have updated the remote explorer, so it continues uploading after a single unsuccessful operation. We'll keep working on it! Update is to be released within today.
