I've been holding off reporting this for a bit thinking maybe it was of my doing but I am now at a total loss. This is not isolated, it is happening on my development computer and my laptop, so I am almost 100% sure it doesn't have anything to do with my installation of VS2019.
When v.1.56.14385 was pushed out back in August my VS auto-updated the package. VS2019 was already at v.16.10. Of course I was not aware of it immediately, but normally that's not a problem.
The first thing that happened was that I was no longer able to open about half of my projects. The Solution Explorer shows "Project xxx (incompatible), and when the project is expanded, it states "The application is not installed".
In the message bar at the bottom is the error "Error HRESULTE_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component".
The tabs for pages that were open are there, but show the message show in image 03 below.
One of the projects affected was my main project, so I had to resort to rebuilding it as a new PHP Website. I can now work with it, but now I've run into a new problem.
Since I rebuilt it, I am no longer able to set a page as start page by right clicking it. I must open the project properties and type in the page I want to use instead. This only occurs in projects that use the new project system (Dependencies in Solution Explorer).
If I am able to open an older project the is using the legacy project system (References in Solution Explorer) I can right click a page and set it as the start page.
This is for any type of page that is normally allowed to be set as a start page, whether it is .php, .htm, or .html.
New Project
Legacy Project
Edit: Just wanted to add that this goes for any new PHP Website project I create, as well as when I create a project from existing code. No matter what, the "Set as Start Page" is not there.
Any ideas what is going on and how I can fix these two problems?
Thanks in advance,
Jim
