Debugging stopped working for all projects

Debugging no longer works for any of my projects. It won't hit any breakpoints. I know that sounds very vague but the issue is very vague. What is the first thing I can provide to you to help me figure out why debugging has stopped working?

It provides details about what is going on.

JakubMisek I believe I found the problem. I am using a Custom web server which is a docker LAMP container. I recently switched to PHP 8.0 and it uses XDebug 3.0. When I switched my environment back to PHP 7.4 and XDebug 2.8 it started working again. Looking at XDebug's support page, it appears PHP 8 does not support Xdebug 2.8 https://xdebug.org/docs/compat

Is using PHP 8 and xdebug 3.0 supported with PHP tools for Visual Studio? How can I develop with PHP 8 and continue to debug using a custom local lamp server?

PHP Tools support Xdebug 3.0; although Xdebug 3.0 introduces a different configuration than 2.8. Please check the php.ini if it's configured well. An example configuration can be found at:

JakubMisek Thank you Jakub. That was the problem. Once I corrected the php.ini file, debugging started working with XDebug 3.0
