ProjectSystemPackage did not load correctly.

I am having problems running PHP Tools on my laptop (it runs fine on my desktop, and it used to run on my laptop).

When I open a PHP project in Visual Studio Community 2022 (Version 17.14.20), I get a message saying "'ProjectSystemPackage' did not load correctly." I don't know if this is related to PHP Tools or not.

When a PHP project is open, the files do not display the correct color formatting.

If I look at installed extensions in the Extension Manager, PHP Tools is not listed. However, if I Browse for PHP Tools in the Extension Manager, choose Install, close Visual Studio, the VSIX installer launches and reports "This extension is already installed to all applicable products.

Ideas? Thanks!

The "ProjectSystemPackage" error itself indicates that the installation is broken, and basically, nothing will work.

We're reviewing logs to identify and resolve this issue promptly.

Raději to napíšu česky. Beru zpět. Po dni práce jsem vypnul VS a pak zapnul a problém je tu opět...
VS při instalaci napíše, že plugin je už nainstalovaný.
Přitom v seznamu jej vůbec neukáže. V Helpu ale položku i aktivaci vidím.
Něco ho blokuje a nevím co...
Neběžím pod adminem, ale i pod ním je stejný problém. V prohlížeči událostí jsem nic nenašel.

PavelSpaleny1 díky - bohužel stále nevíme, co to na VS2022 způsobuje. Reinstall nebo Repair pomůže na chvíli, a pak se VS zase rozbije.

Tak možná je to tím, že jsem měl plugin instalovaný manuálně... reinstall vypadá, že pomohl.

Dnes vyšel další VS update. Po něm zatím mám vše ok.

Just to provide more information: this seems to be an issue specific to certain Visual Studio builds. I have tested several versions of PHP Tools on VS 17.14.16 and everything worked correctly.

Unfortunately, the issue appeared in VS 17.14.23. Interestingly, this problem is not present in any combination of VS 2026 and PHP Tools.

I am going to try the latest VS update now to see if it resolves the behavior and will keep you posted.

What reliably appears to help is:

Manually deleting C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\2022\Community\Common7\IDE\Extensions\extensions.configurationchanged and then calling devenv /setup

Zkoušel jsem to. Ale nic...

Včera se mi VS Community začalo chovat extrémně podivně. U složitějších projektů nenaparsoval php skripty. Rozšíření úplně zmizelo ze seznamu. VS kompletně zatuhlo. K zatuhnutí už stačilo dát git rozdíly... Analyzing PHP errors v podstatě byl neustále na nule.

Měl jsem poslední verzi VS i rozšíření. Instalováno přímo z VS.

Musel jsem ručně nainstalovat PHP.VS.1.88.18274.2022. U ní je to ok. Odninstalace byla možná jen přes vs installer.

PavelSpaleny1 diky za podrobnosti - vydali jsme update 1.88.18450; Problem je nejspis tzv. "DLL hell" - takze by pomohlo znat jake dalsi extensions jsou nainstalovane, at muzeme vyzkouset vzajemnou kompatbilitu.
